Graphic Design Project Planning
Before planning anything, you must recognize the importance of every piece of graphic design representing your business, product or service.
Public perception of your business, product or service is extremely important, sometimes even more important than your actual product. No matter how small, every design piece is a reflection of your brand and how you do business. Caring about and understanding public perception of your business, product or service creates customer value. And when you create customer value, you create a meaningful relationship with your customers. Sometimes the relationship between a customer and the business can be so strong that the customer actually forms and emotional attachment with a product or service. For example, an advertisement from a particular jewelry store could actually make a person remember an experience of love. To ensure long-term success, this type of positive branding should be your constant, ultimate goal.
To achieve your goal, you must expose people to your business, product or service by showing potential customers that you offer something new in the market. Then you must explain why they need your product and how it is different from other products in the marketplace. Maybe the only difference between the business, product or service and competitors is price, but consumers won't know until you put in front of their eyes.
The best time to promote your brand is when you are busy, not when you are slow. If you are busy, it shows potential customers you are doing something right. However, you must stay in the consumer's minds by consistently promoting. Building a brand and customer relationships takes time. Do not expect to create a meaningful attachment to your business, product or service with a single advertisement, sale or event. Long-term exposure to the brand is key.
If you are successful, you will create an association between the brand and the products and services it sells. Ideally, when consumers see your logo, promotions and retail, you want them to remember positive things like you always knows what they want, that your business has great customer service, your company only sells quality products or that you create graphics for multiple areas of design. While it is impossible to control exactly what customers will think, there is no doubt an assumption about your brand will be created. Deciding to invest in quality graphic design will give you much more control over your brand's perception and reputation in the marketplace than you would have otherwise.
When establishing or re-introducing a brand, consistent graphic design promotions are important. Of course you can have themes and promote for holidays, just make sure each promotional theme is consistent. For example, flyers, brochures, posters, banners, billboards, package designs, illustrations, Flash Web banners, and your Web site must all have a consistent feel.
The best way to achieve promotional consistency is by hiring an experienced, competent design company to produce your materials. Built on service, communication and solid graphic design principles, DesignTunnel is the best graphic design solution for your projects.
Can Vector Graphic Design and Raster Graphic Design Be Used Together?
Yes. In fact, most compositions use vector graphic design art elements and raster graphic design art elements. However, if you plan on using both types of graphic design art elements, you need to know that raster graphic design art elements can have certain limitations. To better understand this, let's pretend we have a Web-based Flash animation we need completed.
For a Web-based Flash animation, the Graphic Designer can get away with using low-resolution raster graphic design art elements. This means almost any photograph or flattened image we give the Graphic Designer can be used in the Web-based Flash animation. However, things change if we want to use the same raster graphic design images on a poster, brochure, billboard, banner or some other type of large-format graphic. In order to use the raster graphic design art elements in the world of print, the raster graphic design art elements have to be high-resolution graphic design art elements. So now we cannot use the low-resolution raster graphic design images we used in our Flash animation to tie our look, feel, branding or advertising campaign together. This is just an example, so we are safe.
If the future of your graphic design projects are unknown, the safest type of graphic design to use is vector graphic design. Contact DesignTunnel for your next vector graphic design project.
Vector Logos or Raster Logos?
Hands down, a logo should always be vector, because a vector logo simply has more versatility than a raster logo. One never knows if or how their logo will be used in print, web, multimedia, animations or other medium, and a vector graphic design logo can be scaled as large or small as you will ever need. DesignTunnel will gladly complete your current logo project, your next logo or recreate your current logo.

Differences Between Vector Graphic Design and Raster Graphic Design
There are two types of graphic design art elements used by Graphic Designers: vector graphic design art elements and raster graphic design art elements. Raster graphic design art elements are limited to the original dimensions (width x height) and resolutions (pixels per square inch) at which they are created. This means raster graphic design art elements cannot be scaled to a larger size without pixelation. Pixelating causes raster graphic design art elements to become visually blurry and makes text difficult to read. Sometimes Graphic Designers have to recreate a raster graphic art element at a larger dimension and resolution in order to meet a client's needs. In the end, this costs the client more money and time.
With vector graphic design art elements, the Graphic Designer only has to worry about the dimensions of the large piece being made, and where the vector graphic design art elements hit on the composition. With vector graphic design, resolution is not a problem because vector graphic designs will not pixelate when they are scaled. A Graphic Designer can scale a vector graphic design as large or as small as needed. However, in order to take full advantage of vector graphic designs, a vector graphic design program must be used.
Something else to remember is that a vector graphic design art element can be flattened and turned into a raster graphic design art element, but a raster graphic design art element cannot be turned directly into a vector graphic design art element. The only way a raster graphic design art element can be turned into a vector graphic design art element is to recreate it in a vector graphic design program.
